The new Diablo 3 Season of Nightmares has a start date set for May 17 but the release times will differ depending on what platform you play on. The good news for PC players is that Blizzard will launch Diablo season 17 at the same time for all gamers. But in a fresh D3 season I can level 1-70 by myself in about 3 hours. And depending on the character(I pick based on first free set), by around level 45-50 any major clunkiness is gone. Meanwhile in PoE even after reaching maps, which would take roughly 10 hours last I played, and the clunkiness would still be there.
To my understanding it will mean that there's a break between the end of the ptr and the end of season 15.We don't have a confirmed date yet which likely means 'not before christmas', but when looking at previous season lengths we can estimate that christmas itself could be an option and that it's unlikely to be in march or later.EDIT: I did some more digging and I see people claiming that the season was confirmed to end on the 16th which makes my hope for christmas very realistic.Only problem is I can't find where any of them got their information fromedit 2:. So yeah it ends on the 16th. And because they didn't warn us of any downtime period between the seasons we can safely estimate that the season starts sometime between the 20th and new years (but keep in mind that there is no official confirmation).

We have never had a season ending just before Christmas like this before. They have always carried over to the next year or ended at the end of the year. So the only thing we can base it on is the time between seasons which has been for the most part 2 weeks. Based on that the season will either start early january(most likely in this scenario as very few people work during the holidays) or at the very end of the year.
However I agree having a season not run during the holidays seems stupid.
